Three Ways to Perfect the Puff
The puff (or pineapple as some call it) has become a staple hairstyle in the curly hair community. It’s one of the easiest ways to flaunt your crown and keep those strands in place. These three trendy styles are meant to be as easy as throwing your hair up into the perfect high puff.
Kassandra is using Houndstooth in this step-by-step tutorial. Given its haute couture history in the fashion realm, Houndstooth elevates any look and pairs well with virtually any color palette. So, use this luxurious wrap or opt-in for any of the other nine gorgeous patterns in our Flair collection.
Also disclaimer: having a puff is NOT necessary, all lengths are hair types are welcome to trying these styles!
Two-Knot and Go
- Evenly place the wrap behind your head covering the nape and crown, ensuring the pattern is facing outward
- Tie once in the front (just like shoelaces!)
- Bring both sides of remaining fabric to the back of your head and tie once, once again ensuring the pattern is facing outward
Voila, you look stunning!
One-Knot Twist and Tuck
- Evenly place the wrap behind your head covering the nape and crown, ensuring the pattern is facing outward
- Tie once in the front (just like shoelaces!)
- Tightly twist both remaining pieces of fabric individually, almost like twirling your hair around your finger
- Take both twisted pieces of fabric and twist them with each other, creating a braided look
- Take the braided piece and pick either side (left or right, whichever you prefer) and tuck the end behind your head.
That was unbelievably easy!
Patterned Front Bun
- Evenly place the wrap behind your head covering the nape and crown, ensuring the pattern is facing outward
- Tie once in the front (just like shoelaces!)
- Tightly twist both remaining pieces of fabric individually, almost like twirling your hair around your finger
- Take both twisted pieces of fabric and twist them with each other, creating a braided look
- Tightly wrap that braided around itself, almost like a bantu knot and tuck it right underneath the first knot you made at the start of the style to secure the bun
This will easily become your go-to!
